How to get Yugioh Tag Force Special from the Japanese Playstation Store

image

So Tag Force Special is now out in Japan on the Playstation store, you’re excited to play and wants to give konami some money while you’re at it, but is not sure how or have not had success doing it.

If you’re looking to getting the game but don’t have previous experience dealing with Japanese PSN this might be able to help you out as a guide as well as doubling as a general guide for getting things from the Japanese PSN.

*Update: Vita owners may need to be willing to do a factory reset (and optionally 2 memory cards) in order to switch PSN accounts on their devices which is not covered in the guide. If so, it would likely need to happen during step 6 (before syncing new account contents to the device). See more info here –> Link 1 | Link 2

* Prerequisite: working mobile phone (any) that can receive text msg (for getting the PSN card), USB cable for PSP (any generic mini-USB cable works, they looks like this)

Step 1: Register a Japanese PSN account.

Go to the link below to start the registration process, and and follow the steps in the image:

Step 2: Add game to cart

Go to the game’s item page:

https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/#!/ja-jp/%e3%82%b2%e3%83%bc%e3%83%a0/%e9%81%8a%e6%88%af%e7%8e%8barc-v-tagforce-special/cid=JP0101-NPJH00142_00-YUGIOHTFSP000000?EMCID=jGMpsnTOP_a0004

Choose “Add to cart”:

You’ll get a login prompt - sign in with the PSN account you created, then add it to cart again:

Success. You got the item in your cart, but no funds to pay yet.

Step 3: Obtain a PSN prepaid card

Buy a Japanese PSN card (digital) worth 3000 JPY from:

http://www.play-asia.com/playstation-network-card-ticket-3000-yen-for-japanese-network–paOS-13-49-en-70-3xk5.html

Note: After placing order you’ll need to verify your email and a working mobile phone number (that can receive text) in order to get your code, which should then be instantaneous.

Should look like this when done:

[Update]: These two sites below also offer prepaid Japanese PSN cards with online delivery – I’ve personally never used them before and thus can’t vouch for their service quality, but japan-codes seems offers the card at the lowest price out of the 3 sites. Feel free to give them a shot!

Step 4: Add funds to your PSN account

Go back to the PSN site and click the funds button:

And claim the code from step 3:

Success!

Now go back and confirm you have the money.

Go back to shopping cart and proceed with checkout:

Verify purchase is successful under your account (Drop down menu –> Manage account):

Success!

Step 6: sync it to your PSP.

Download and install Media Go (it’s like iTunes for the PSP family):

http://mediago.sony.com/enu/download

Once installed, go to the bottom left area and choose Manage Account –> Sign In to Download List and you’ll be prompted to sign in.

Download the game files to your computer:

Once download is complete, connect your PSP with USB cable and choose Add To –> PSP

image

You’ll be prompted to sign in again to sync:

And after that you should have it on your PSP.

Hopefully that worked for you as it did for me.

Enjoy the game. Duel standby!

** If you found anything noteworthy to add, feel free to send me an ask/reply and I’ll add it to the top post. –Thanks!
